BOTOX® Injections

BOTOX® injections have been used by cosmetic surgeons for almost two decades to treat a number of facial cosmetic concerns. Due to the formation of wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, injections of BOTOX® have been used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The treatment involves having BOTOX® injected into specific areas of the face, paralyzing the muscles so they do not contract and form wrinkles. The location of BOTOX® injections are varied, and can include the area around the mouth, cheeks, forehead, and eyes. When applied to the mouth and cheeks, it will create a youthful and a more supple appearance. Sunken wrinkles around the eye sockets, furrows on the forehead, and crow’s feet are diminished with the treatment also. BOTOX® is not able to hide wrinkles around the mouth due to sagging cheeks, a facelift is a better option to address this cosmetic concern.

Having BOTOX® injections administered by a New York cosmetic surgeon can be performed right in the doctor’s office. There is no recovery time involved, although some individuals may experience some bruising at the injection site. These bruises are mild in natural, and disappear within a week or so. The effectiveness of the injection is limited, lasting about four months on average, and so individuals will repeat the treatment a few times per year.

There will be a charge for the BOTOX® compound, and a charge for the doctor to administer the injections. Of course these charges will be repeated again in about six months if you intend on maintaining the enhancements to your facial appearance. Once individuals receive their first series of injections they tend to continue them for the long-term.

Noticeable wrinkles are reduced by BOTOX® injections and include forehead lines, wrinkles around the eyes, and frown lines. After injections are administered, some tightness of the face may be experienced at injection sites, but patients report they get use to the feeling in a short period of time. BOTOX® injections are generally safe for all individuals, but some have experienced an allergic reaction to the compound. Your doctor can administer an allergy test to be certain no allergy exists.
