Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Last Week NYC, Today Bodrum, Turkey

May 27, 2010

My local and national speaking opportunities continue to increase. Last weekend I again participated in the NYU Rhinology Update, where I have been speaking for some years now. I spoke on the importance of preserving function in rhinoplasty and discussed my own innovations in functional rhinoplasty. I shared the podium with Dean Toriumi, who is still acknowledged by most as the foremost and most innovative rhinoplasty surgeon practicing today.

Today I arrived in Bodrum, Turkey. Here I am attending RhinoCamp, a 3 day nasal extravaganza with many international attendees and instructors. As the honored visiting professor from the U.S. in Rhinoplasty, I am speaking tomorrow on “The Fundamentals of Rhinoplasty”, “The Crooked Nose”, “Functional Rhinoplasty”, “Cartilage Grafts in Rhinoplasty”, and “Alloplasts and the Saddle Nose”.

Bodrum is on the Aegean Sea, with the Greek Islands of Rhodes and Cos just off its coast. Today I swam in a 72 degree Aegean which was sparkling and crystal clear. I plan on exploring the corner of Turkey before I leave on Saturday.

Ecuador Rhinoplasty Talks

February 13, 2010

Last week, I traveled to Salinas Beach, Ecuador for the 4th Equatorial Conference in Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery. This resort area of Ecuador is on the Pacific coast near Guayaquil and attracted an audience of over 150 surgeons. Also speaking at the conference were Dean Toriumi and Fernando Pedroza (of Bogota) among others. I gave rhinoplasty talks on “Basic Principles of Rhinoplasty”, “Advanced Tip Techniques in Rhinoplasty”, and “Complications of Rhinoplasty”.

Ecuador is on the verge of joining the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies with intensifying interest in facial plastic surgery in general. I look forward to seeing them make a successful bid for this in the next year.

There’s more in Columbia than coffee

November 18, 2008

Dr. Constantinides is traveling to Manizales, Columbia this week to lecture on rhinoplasty techniques. The conference is a national meeting of Columbian physicians and Dr. C is the keynote American surgeon invited to participate. When he visited last year all he could talk about was how beautiful the city of Cartagena was and how alive the streets were with color and music. The people of Columbia welcomed him with open arms and he looked forward to his return this year. It is obviously an enormous honor for him to be invited back again and we look forward to filling you in when he returns.

Let’s also not forget it’s time to GO BARE!! We are happy to introduce that our Facial Rejuvenation Spa is offering Laser Hair Removal starting this December. Contact our office to set up a consultation and appointment with our Licensed Aesthetician. Holiday Discounts and Promotions are available

A Beautiful Night

November 5, 2008

Our Fall Night of Beauty took place on Thursday October 2nd and was a huge success.
The night began with attendees mingling in our reception room where they ate wonderful food and drank pomegrante martinis while getting to know one another as well as our sponsors from Allergan, Artes Medical, Medicis, Jane Iredale, Bioform, OrthoNeutrogena, Environ, Dermik, and of course New Beauty. The representatives were available to discuss their products and support Drs. Constantinides and Eviatar as well as contributing to our fabulous goody bags which everyone received at the end of the evening.

But wait…we cannot forget the main reason everyone came to the event. It was not for the goody bags and martinis was it? We all went into the main room to hear Dr. Constantinides discuss rhinoplasty and new techniques and procedures. Dr. Eviatar discussed various fillers for areas around the eyes

Raffle prizes consisting of office consultations with Dr. Constantinides, complimentary skin care consultations with our aesthetician, products from our skin care line, and other various prizes were given out over the course of the evening to many of our lucky guests.

We thank all of you who joined in the fun. For those of you who could not make it we look forward to seeing you at our Spring Fling. Check our website to see pictures from the Fall Night of Beauty and for future news and information on the date of our Spring Fling.

Spring Night of Beauty

May 19, 2008

On May 13, 2008, I was joined by Drs. Doris Day and Haideh Hirmand at our Spring Night of Beauty.  Over 50 attendees heard talks by me about “Facial Plastic Surgery…What’s New”, that included such topics as Rhinoplasty, Revision Rhinoplasty, Cleft Lip Nose Surgery, Blepharoplasty, Facelifting, and the use of injectibles such as Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra, and Artefill.  Dr. Day spoke about Lasers, and Dr. Hirmand spoke about breast surgery, body sculpting and facial aesthetic surgery.  Before the talks, we had a wine tasting and jewelry sale.  There were live auctions with a great selection of gifts, and everyone received a goody bag overflowing with great stuff.  It was a tremendous success, worthy of the three top practices New York City in plastic surgery and dermatology represented!

Rhinoplasty and the Central Face 2008 Review

April 23, 2008

Dear Minas,

The rhinoplasty course is just over, and I have has a comfortable, reflective walk back.

Once again, let me say that how excellent your meeting was.  The program, and especially the quality of your speakers, gave a superb overview of nasal surgery as it is practiced today, integrating sound principles, newer techniques, controversial concepts and consensus opinion.  The same can be said for the wonderful presentations, panel discussions and questions on Friday afternoon’s session on lasers, injectables and fillers.  I believe everyone who attended the meeting was provided an exceptional educational experience.

As one who has organized similar meetings, I recognize just how much creative energy, commitment and time is required to bring such a course to fruition.  You are to be proudly applauded for your achievement.  As your fellowship director of some (too many!) years ago, there is nothing that makes me feel more pleased than to observe and to be a part of the success that you are enjoying.  In addition, I have had the warm satisfaction of our personal friendship which has only deepened over the years.  You are also blessed with an incredibly supportive wife Melissa, and I know that your family is bringing you much contentment.  Life is good.

Please accept my deepest appreciation and gratitude for including me in your course.  It was my privilege to be a part of this your first, most successful, endeavor.  Kindest personal regards.

Yours truly,

Peter A. Adamson, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., F.A.C.S.

After a long lapse…Talks and a Course in Planning

February 20, 2008

Much has happened since my last post.  Last month, I was invited to speak at the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery’s Mid-Winter Meeting.  This meeting is a joint meeting with colleagues in oculoplastic surgery and derm surgery.  This year, it was held in Vail.  The skiing was great and the meeting a success.  I spoke on “The Physician-Patient Relationship in the 21st Century” and ”Crushed, Diced and Solid Cartilage Grafts in Rhinoplasty”.  More on the first of these talks in my next post.

I have been working furiously to finalize the program of an upcoming scientific meeting that I am launching on April 17 & 18, 2008, here at NYU Medical Center.  The meeting, “Rhinoplasty and the Central Face 2008″ will be an annual meeting focusing on the esthetics of the central face.  In addition to the nose, we will cover practice management, lasers, and injectables.  This interdisciplinary meeting will bring together world-famous facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons and dermatologists, each discussing his/her particular area of specialty.  This is a one-of-a-kind endeavor never tried before.  I expect it to be a great success based on early feedback.  Cross your fingers!

Patient Testimonial

November 27, 2007

Alison, my office manager, just received this from one of our patients:

 Dear Alison,

I meant to get back to you sooner but life has been crazy. Thank you for the wonderful invitation. I would have loved to attend and was waiting to the last minute to rsvp in hopes that I would be able to be there. Unfortunately, I could not but would love for you to keep me in the loop whenever Dr. C. is doing something like this. He’s a wonderful doctor that I entrusted with my broken cheekbone. He’s my hero!  If  you do see him you can tell him I said hello and will never forget him!

Sincerely,  MM.

Night of Beauty a Huge Hit

November 15, 2007

On October 30, we had an evening event here at NYU Medical Center, organzied by me and New Beauty magazine.  The “Night of Beauty” had great food, wine and vodka tasting, lots of giveaways of great gifts and beauty treatments, and presentations by 4 doctors.  My presentation led off the group on Advances in Facial Plastic Surgery, where I spoke about facelifts, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty.  Most importantly, I emphasized the importance of the patient-physician relationship in this ever-more-complex world that we live in.  Other speakers included Dr. Elliott Jacobs (plastic surgeon speaking on hand rejuvenation), Dr. Gerald Curatola (cosmetic dentist) and Dr. Laurie Polis (cosmetic dermatologist).  About 120 people attended, and reviews of the evening have been outstanding.  We hope to have a repeat performance in the Spring.
