Case 1: Cleft Nose Revision
This man had a left cleft lip and palate repaired as a child. He had rhinoplasty as a teenager, but came to Dr. Constantinides Manhattan facial plastic surgery practice with severe bilateral nasal obstruction, a persistent cleft palate (a hole in his palate), an obvious upper lip scar, and a cleft lip nasal deformity. Notice his nostril asymmetry, with the left nostril narrower than the right. He also had a prominent hump and bilateral internal nasal valve obstruction. On profile, his nose was over-projected and his tip was droopy. After surgery, his nostrils are more symmetric and his profile is straighter, strong and masculine. Notice how his he looks friendlier (although he was always a friendly guy). Revision cleft lip rhinoplasty surgery enhanced not only his nose, but made his whole face look warmer and his eyes more engaging. Revision cleft lip rhinoplasty surgery also improved his cleft scar and closed the hole in his palate. Dr. Constantinides also succeeded in improving his severe nasal obstruction with revision septoplasty, bilateral spreader grafts, and bilateral alar batten grafts, all key steps in functional rhinoplasty.
