Teaching and Fellowships
1:25
Teaching the next generation is extremely rewarding for Dr. Constantinides.
DR. MINAS CONSTANTINIDES: I believe strongly that work shouldn't feel like work. And coming to work every day, I do a lot of things that I love to do, and it’s the variety of what I can do that is a lot of fun in my day-to-day life.
So not only do I love meeting patients and helping them figure out how plastic surgery can fit into their lives, but I also love to teach. Being Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Department of Otolaryngology, which is the ear, nose, and throat department here at NYU School of Medicine, I get the opportunity to run the residency teaching program in facial plastic surgery.
But also I have begun a fellowship about five years ago in facial plastic surgery. And my fellows are fully trained surgeons who have decided to spend an extra year with me and become sub-specialized in what I do.
I've been really fortunate to have been invited to write a number of chapters in textbooks in facial plastic surgery. And my fellows are always helping in that writing process. And for them, it helps them get their names in publications.
And so basically, we're teaching the next generation how to, not only how to operate, but how to write and be successful academic surgeons as well.
