DR. MINAS CONSTANTINIDES: Chin implants are typically made out of silicone rubber. And I will place them by using an incision the mouth so there’s no external scar visible. That incision also allows me to identify clearly where the little nerves are in the lower lip so you never get any numbness in the area.
We will put a screw in to secure the implant or the underlying bone so there’s no motion at all. So the implant’s absolutely stable and actually feels just like it’s always been there as part of your own bone.
Cheek implants produce a dramatic change in the shape of the face. So someone who has an oval face can actually have a square face or a heart shaped face, which looks great on camera if you're an actor or an actress.
It also looks great in everyday pictures if you're not. Although cheek implants can accurately change how someone looks, it’s really important that you understand that cheek implants really will change the way you look.
Most facial plastic surgeries that we do are really designed to make you look more like yourself, just a better version. Cheek implants change the way you look. And that’s one of the few things that we do that really can do that dramatically.
